ABOUT HYDERABAD KARNATAKA DISABLED WELFARE SOCIETY
Hyderabad Karnataka Disabled Welfare Society (HKDWS), established on 6th November 1990, is a registered, secular, and voluntary non-governmental organization committed to the empowerment of visually impaired and differently-abled individuals. Operating across six historically underdeveloped districts—Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Bidar, Raichur, Ballari, and Koppal—the Society was founded on the belief that “Self-help is the best help.”
HKDWS provides quality education, vocational training, and rehabilitation services to disabled children, while also working to connect them with government schemes and opportunities. The Society aims to build inclusive support systems by establishing Braille libraries, facilitating medical treatment for those with curable disabilities, organizing workshops, conducting surveys, and promoting self-employment through skill development. Its mission is to create a life of dignity, independence, and equal opportunity for every disabled individual.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDERS

Mr. Dattu Agarwal, born on 17th May 1957, lost his vision at the age of three due to pneumonia. Undeterred, he pursued education diligently, completing his post-graduation from Gulbarga University and later serving as a Senior Lecturer in Political Science until his retirement in 2017.
A passionate educator and social worker, he has dedicated over three decades to the empowerment of the disabled, earning several awards and recognition for his service. His leadership, vision, and commitment have led to impactful changes in the lives of many.
His wife, Mrs. Shobharani Agarwal, a compassionate woman from South Canara, has been a constant support in this mission. Together, they co-founded the Hyderabad Karnataka Disabled Welfare Society, where she now serves as President, continuing their shared vision of inclusive growth and dignity for the disabled.
